It was in November of 1995, mother said that she had always felt dizzy after getting up. “I feel as though that I would faint if I were to stand up immediately.” Gastroscopy (the viewing of the stomach through the mount via an endoscope) revealed that her stomach cancer had attacked again. Due to her old age, the doctor did not prescribe for chemotherapy, the drip-feeding of anticancer drugs into her body for the fear of the violent side effects. Instead, he prescribed some Traditional Chinesse Medicine. Unfortunately, her health condition was still not as good as expected.

Thus, in February the following year, my eldest brother who worked in Taiwan brought back Tien Hsien Liquid, an anticancer medicine which is said to be quite effective. Mother began by drinking Tien Hsien Liquid. To our surprise, her CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen) count dropped to 2.0 in March and to 1.6 in May. In August, we took it for granted and though that mother had fully recovered. That was then she stopped drinking Tien Hsien Liquid. As a result, she was infected with acute enteritis and a fever above 40 degrees Celsius. Mother also had diarrhea which lasted for three days. We sent her to hospital and she was released about one month later. She had a diarrhea again but her CEA rose back to 2.7.

Later January of 1997, she started to drink Tien Hsien Liquid daily again until October when the CEA count dropped to 1.4 and was kept under control.

Now, mother does not feel pain at all. Although she is still physically weak, her digestive functions are quite well and she says that her taste buds came back, she can taste delicious food again.
